Hi Friends:
Hope you haven’t missed us. Our new editor, Jacki Moffa, will be keeping you all updated and Clay Moore, our program coordinator, will send pictures from the teachers and more ways to stay inspired. Coming up of course, Austin City Limits at Kiddie Limits where we’ll be decorating masks and sharing a booth with Austin Allies, a great volunteer organization that includes volunteerism for kids. They will be making egg shakers. Everyone who signs up will receive a Leap of Joy bracelet and a chance to win a bag and tee shirt. Can’t wait to see Paul McCartney and so much more. We grew up and old together. Hips don’t fail me now!
We are so excited by our Leap of Joy Let It Go event on November 10. Fill a bag. Make an offer. It’s yours. New, unused clothing, jewelry, gift items, ornaments, accessories, beads and findings, dance clothes and shoes and much more.
It’s been a hard year for the arts and the economic cuts are already being felt for after school programming. Seems like they want to take the STEAM out and just leave STEM. Evidence shows that kids need the arts as much as they do the other subjects. Contracts are being shortened because of lack of funds even in schools where arts are a part of the after-school curriculum. We’re always looking for additional funding sources and with the political climate for over the past year, things challenge us to get more resourceful.
