It’s been an exciting month for us here at Leap of Joy. At the end of April we had our annual AISD showcase where our students showed off their many talents. It was a wonderful experience, and a great start to the month. Our founder Judy attended the annual Gilmmer of Hope Gala. It was a wonderful opportunity to network with other local non-profits and learn more about the work others are doing in our shared community. Glimmer of Hope is a great contributor to Leap of Joy, and for the second summer in a row a select group of our students will be attending Camp Glimmer. Camp Glimmer is a fun opportunity for our kids to interact with other students in Austin, and engage in new experiences.

As we round the end of the month, we are finally approaching our second annual Care to Dance benefit and showcase. We’re incredibly excited, and so are all of our talented students. They’ve been working all year for this moment, and we are so  proud to be able to give them their time in the limelight. Care to Dance will take place this Friday, May 30th at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center at 7:15 PM. Seated tickets are sold out, but we do have standing room left.
We are still actively fundraising for the year with raffle tickets. We have amazing raffle prizes this year including:Two 3 day VIP ACL passes, a two night stay at a resort and spa in Texas Hill Country, a two night beachfront condo stay, $200 to Uchi or Uchiko, and many more. You can purchase tickets through the main page here on our website. If you have any questions please contact Sarah at scarpenter@leapofjoy.org. The raffle will take place this Friday at the Care to Dance showcase. You do not need to be present to win and will be contacted within 24 hours if you do.
This past Saturday, our Media Coordinator did an interview with People’s Pharmacy Radio. The station focuses on health and wellness in the community. The interview was about ten minutes long and was a great opportunity for our organization. We’ve been working to expand our media section of Leap of Joy this past year. In addition to radio interviews and blogs, we are focusing on our social media campaigns and mixed media productions. Recently we posted a video showcasing Leap of Joy class highlights, including interviews of some of our teachers and students. Check it out on below, or on our main page leapofjoy.org and Facebook page.
Remember we welcome all volunteers and donations. We are also currently interviewing for teachers for the coming 2014-2015 school year. You can contact us through our website, or directly at scarpenter@leapofjoy.org or daniellehoutkooper@leapofjoy.org. Look for upcoming highlights from Care to Dance, and other fun summer activities in the coming months.
