nutcracker
Leap of Joy just ended our last class for the semester this week and won’t start up again until the middle of January.   A big thanks to our wonderful teachers Sarah Carpenter, Danielle Hootkooper, Maia McCoy, Atenas Vallado , Eddejay Santos and teacher/program director, Annelize Machado.
We have had a very exciting Fall Semester topped off with a wonderful grant and financial boost from The Glimmer of Hope Foundation that will not only keep the classes going that we now have in seven schools with the addition of Brook and Sunset Valley but will enable us to expand to serve more kids from low performance schools in and around Austin.
The kids finished off the semester with several Nutcracker Pieces including kids from 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students at Hart Elementary who not only assisted in creating the stage set but finished it off with an  outstanding performance that they helped to create.  At Harris the 3rd & 4th grade girls also created their performance around the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies.  Kids at T. A. Brown also had an end of the semester performance and all of our classes celebrated with holiday parties that included games, prizes, treats and small gifts.
We also wish to give a special thank you to More than Great Dancing and Daphne Campanelli for their charitable donations and Maria Torres for hosting our Holiday Bazaar & Open House and for peddling our Leap of Joy bags to her friends at the Heart Hospital.
Recently we were one of the featured charities at Yelp Helps and we will have a community booth at The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar the week before Christmas.
Leap of Joy is moving full speed ahead in 2013 with our goal to bring more physical, creative and nutritional guidance and education to the children we serve with the hope that they will take a Leap of Joy into a brighter future.
